No one likes spam. Unfortunately, if you have a blog, you’ll have to deal with it. However, here’s a little tip that makes dealing with spam a little bit easier.
First of all, install and setup Akismet if you haven’t already done so. Akismet is the most popular spam plugin out there, but unfortunately it accidentally marks legit comments as spam sometimes, which means you’ll have to skim your spam folder often to make sure no comments fall through the cracks.
To combat this problem, install FV Antispam as well. FV Antispam will automatically trash spambot comments, which leaves Akismet to deal with the human spam. So unless you have actual people spamming you, if you see a comment marked as spam, odds are it’s a legit comment that was wrongly marked as spam. Yay for no more wading through your spam!
You might be asking why not just install FV Antispam if it works so well? The answer is that both plugins have their strengths and together, they work wonderfully. I’ve had each plugin installed separately and they didn’t function half as well as they do together. They’re the perfect spam fighting team!
