Last week I asked you to fill out a little survey for me. Well 12 of you did, so thank you!
The results were surprising, yet not, at the same time, if you know what I mean. Anyway, onto the results!
Half of the respondents have been around for 1-3 months. The other half have been here since the beginning or they’ve recently stumbled upon this little blog here. The majority of my blog readers are from the good ol’ US of A. And one is from Finland. Shout out to my overseas reader!
So how’d my readers find me? Well 25% were drawn in by a comment I left on their blog, 25% came here from a link on another blog, 8% found me via Pinterest, and 42% can’t remember! For those that can’t remember, I’ll bet it was a comment I left on your blog… which I probably found via a link up or a comment you left on another blog (yup, I’m a comment stalker).
My lovely readers follow me in a variety of ways. Most follow via Google Reader or Bloglovin, which makes sense. Four of you follow me on Twitter, 3 on Pinterest, 2 on Facebook, and 2 on Instagram. Did you know you can also get my posts delivered straight to your inbox? Well you can!
Your favorite post types are life, tips + tricks, and tutorials, so it makes sense that those are the posts you want to see more of as well! I have plans for more tips/tricks posts as well as tutorials, so I’m so glad you want to see more of them. Right now I’m actually working on a post (or posts!) on Google Analytics thanks to Betsy and Eliza. But first I have to learn it myself, so stay tuned! As for more life posts, I don’t know how much more life I can post about without putting you to sleep! Honestly, my life is pretty boring. Plus, when I do do something interesting, I don’t like taking my phone out to snap a picture. And what’s a blog post without a picture? But I’ll try to find a way to make it interesting.
In comparison, your least favorites are recipes, product collages, fashion, and inspiration. Frankly, I hate writing recipe posts, so you’ll only see them if I come across an amazing recipe and I happen to photograph it. As for product collages, fashion, and inspiration, well I don’t see those going away anytime soon. And I’m super happy no one hates design, life, tips + tricks, and tutorials!
92% of you want 3-4 posts per week. This was a little surprising to me. Probably because if I love a blog, I want to see daily posts on it. On weekends I usually go through withdrawals when my favorite bloggers don’t post. It’s ridiculous. Anyway, right now I’m posting 6 days a week… or at least that’s the plan. Sometimes that doesn’t happen. I have been hoping to cut back, but I have so many ideas! Thanks to this survey though, I’m going to reevaluate these ideas and try to schedule only 4 posts a week. And since you want to see more tips, tricks, and tutorials (which take more time to write), 4 posts sounds more manageable.
Comments, comments, comments. The majority of you only expect replies when you’ve asked a question or every once and awhile. I’m glad you said that because I feel bad not replying even though I sometimes have nothing interesting to say. So from now on my reply policy is this: If you ask a question or are a first time commenter, I’ll reply. If I have something interesting to say, you’ll get a reply. Otherwise, I won’t, but I promise I do read each and every comment and I appreciate them all.
To those of you who left sweet comments in the suggestion box, thank you! You have no idea how much your kind words mean to me.
If you read all this, you deserve a gold star. I’m usually a girl of few words and this is by far my longest post to date.

I LOVE your graphs, Allyssa! I was one of the 92% who picked 3-4 posts per week- I used to agree with what you said 100%, but now it’s like all the stars have to be aligned in the sky for my reader to reach zero. That being said, it’s not like I don’t happily follow blogs who post more than that, so if you want to post 6 days a week- rock on!
Once I gave 3-4 posts some thought, I realized it was a good idea. I always plan on writing some tutorial or something, but then never get around to it because I don’t have the time to write it! And yeah, my reader is never at zero, so I guess less posts is a good thing!
Thanks for sharing the results, I love this idea. It gives you a really good baseline for where to go next! I’m excited to see the Google Analytics post and I’m always happy to follow you :)
I’m excited for the Google Analytics post too! First I have to wade through all the info out there and make heads or tails of it all. I don’t know what I got myself into, but if it helps people, it’s worth it.
These graphs are awesome! It makes the responses seem more “real” if that makes any sense. Umm, no to collages and fashion?? I definitely voted in favor of those. I’ve seen too mnay cute styles and decor on this blog for it to go away!
Yeah, they’re not going anywhere. I love to make them. And although they were voted as least favorites, it doesn’t mean people hate them. They’d just rather see something else.
I LOVE the questions you asked! I wish I had thought of some of those! Also, your graphs are so good. I was surprised when people said that they wanted to see 3-4 posts per week as well, and when I saw that, I was thinking “this is great! I’ll cut back a little and not have to worry.” As soon as I said that out loud, I had a million post ideas and have to keep myself from posting twice a day. Funny how that happens!
Thank you thank you thank you for researching this goole analytics business. I can’t wait to see those posts.
But seriously. That “how did you find my blog?”question was pure genius.

I can’t take all the credit for the graphs… I took a screen shot of the results then redid the text! I know what you mean about inspiration striking at the wrong moment. So many times I’ve said I’m taking a break.. only to want to post an hour later!
I’m in a bit over my head with the Google Analytics stuff, but I’ll find a way to understand it and present it in an understandable manner. I think there’s just soooo much functionality that it’s overwhelming. I guess I’ll start with the basics and work from there.
These are really great graphs! I liked this post very much.
I didn’t even know about a survey or I would have taken it!!
I need to make one of these really soon. I’m glad you posted your results. It’s always interesting finding out what everyone is thinking.
I kind of love these surveys – I think they’re super important, I haven’t done one on my blog for over a year! I probably should :)
Interesting about how people found your blog!
Love this post! Great idea to let your readers fill out a survey!

Just found your blog (via pinterest) and I absolutely love it. I’ve gotten so much useful information and I’ve only read a few pages of posts so far. Trying to get back in to blogging myself so thanks for the info and inspiration!
