PS: I promise I’m wearing shorts.
Today I’m so excited to be linking up with Evani! I’m really trying to get into shape, so maybe this link up will provide the motivation I need!
Confessions:
- I woke up early today so I could go for a walk. Obviously that didn’t happen.
- Soda free September? Yeah… we’re on day 5 and I already broke it… twice.
Facts:
- I’m lazy. I need extra motivation just to get up and exercise.
- I hate water. I’d much rather drink iced tea or juice.
- I love to bake and cook. And when I make great food, I hate to see it go to waste.
September Goals:
- Go for a walk 3-4 times a week.
- During every walk, attempt to run for 5 minutes.
- Cut out soda!
Motivation:
We could all use a little extra motivation, so before I end this post, I’d love to share someone who I’ve found inspiring: Shay Carl. Maybe you’ve seen him on YouTube before. He’s lost 100lbs and has now ran 2 marathons! Well he’s hosting Shaytember, where you pick 3 goals to better yourself in September. Everyday on his ShayLoss channel, he’s posting a video talking about his goals, our goals, and how to stay motivated. This guy has a future in motivational speaking.

Stopping by from Evani’s link up.
Cutting out soda is hard, but you can do it! My rule used to be that if I’m going to drink soda I can drink one, but I also had to drink two glasses of water afterwards.
If you’re not a runner, I suggest couch to 5k to add the running into your walks. I just finished it last week and have no problems running for longer periods of time now. I don’t worry about how slow I’m going, just that I’m running.
YOU CAN DO IT! *in water boy voice*
I like that idea for the soda drinking.
I tried the couch to 5k a while ago, but didn’t get very far. I think it’s about time I retry it. Thanks for reminding me!
Hey I’m stopping by from the let’s get physical link up. I cut out soda almost 10 years ago {wow figuring that out made me feel so old!} and while it was difficult at first, it got easier and I honestly don’t even miss it! My husband LOVES Cokes and he was able to cut back by counting it as a snack as opposed to a beverage, and only drinking them once in awhile when we’re out. I just started Couch to 5k as well, and I really like it! I’ve found that when I exercise in the morning my whole day is so much better, I have a lot more energy and I’m more likely to work out than I am if I wait until after work. Good luck reaching your goals girl!
I used to not drink soda, so I know I can do it, I just have to buckle down haha.
I agree – my day does feel so much better when I get some exercise in the morning!
Thanks for linking up Lyss! :) I gave up soda for Lent 6 years ago and I haven’t looked back. Try maybe fruit infused water, I seriously LOVE lemon, orange or even lime in my water at home! Also, I’m incredibly tempted to try the Couch to 5K program since Melissa has been blogging about it, its seems really do-able for non-runners like you and me! Honestly, I’m pretty lazy too, it takes a lot for me to get off my computer and do something active so maybe we can tweet each other when we need that extra push? :) So happy you’ve joined in on the journey, excited to cheer for you along the way!
Evani
I do like lemon water! Maybe I should stock up on lemons!
I tried the couch to 5k program once and stopped shortly after. I’m so out of shape the short distances they have you running in the beginning are too much! Haha. I’m going to try again though.
I like the tweeting idea! It’ll hold me accountable and I’d love to help you in your journey too :)
Go you!
It’s strange, but I used to have a soda or two every day and I haven’t had one in YEARS now. I don’t remember why I stopped, but I don’t think I really understood that they were bad for me back then so I doubt that’s got anything to do with it. I know that now even a sip hurts my throat, but I don’t remember that being the case back then.
That’s awesome. I’m hoping that I can cut it out soon. When I stop and think about what I’m drinking, it grosses me out (apparently not enough to stop me though haha).
I also hate drinking water, but I’ve given up soda too, and now water is all I drink. Not fun, but worth it. And you can totally run as long as you want, you just have to work up to it!
After I give up soda, I’m going to try to just drink water. Juices and sugary teas aren’t much better than soda. Thanks for the motivation! I hope to increase my running so I can go for awhile!
Thanks for the link to Shayloss! I have a hard time getting motivated to exercise as well. Many times seeing others progress is helpful.
You’re welcome! I hope he inspires you! Yes, seeing others progress is definitely helpful!
wow, this shay-guy is pretty amazing!
I like that you didn’t pick some crazy big goals for this month. I always quit if I push myself too hard.
oh, I wish I loved to cook! :D but I also hate throwing food away, so I’ve been eating the same dish for two days now. :D however, when I have leftovers that aren’t good to eat later (like potatoes), I ask myself if it would be a good idea to overstuff. so in respect of my body (which I don’t regard as a food dump) and health I decide it’s better to throw it away – but it does break my heart. :D
+ I love your photo!
Isn’t he?!
I have to learn to think about the amount of food I’m eating. Usually I just eat and eat, but I need to start assessing how full I am.
